Biography of Sean O. McCrary: A Legal Advocate for the Injured

Early Life and Education:
Sean O. McCrary, a native of Gulfport, Mississippi, was born and raised with a deep commitment to justice and a passion for helping those in need. His journey in the legal field began with a strong foundation in education. Sean attended a public 5A high school where he won awards in both calculus and geometry. He also won his school’s chess tournament two years in a row. In 2007, Sean earned his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Mississippi, setting the stage for a unique blend of scientific knowledge and legal expertise. He also served as his fraternity’s rush chairman based on his peers’ votes.  In 2010, he proudly achieved his Juris Doctor from the Mississippi College School of Law.

Pioneering Career in Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Litigation:
Shortly after graduating from law school, Sean embarked on a career that, without knowing, would change the lives of countless individuals. Immediately after his graduation, Sean took his first legal job at an LA-based law firm with a laser focus on pharmaceutical and medical device personal injury cases. His dedication and legal prowess quickly became evident as he managed and litigated complex cases such as the Infusion Shoulder Pain Pumps that caused chondrolysis, diabetes drugs called Byetta/Januvia that caused pancreatitis, Avandia which caused heart attacks, and the contraceptive pills Yaz which caused blood clots. He participated in national Multidistrict Litigation (MDL)—a special federal procedure designed to speed the process of handling complex cases—and California Judicial Council Coordinated Proceedings while studying for the most difficult bar exam in the country and working every night at a coffee shop. Mr. McCrary passed the 18-hour California bar exam with a 40% pass rate on his first try. 

In 2012, Mr. McCrary relocated to Colorado, where he passed the Colorado bar exam and continued his journey with a Denver-based law firm dedicated to pharmaceutical and medical device personal injury cases. His outstanding contributions led to his appointment by the Honorable Gail Andler as Plaintiffs’ Co-Lead Counsel and Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee Member in Judicial Council Coordinated Proceeding No. 4615 (JCCP 4615), In Re: Infusion Pain Pump Cases in Orange County, California. He further demonstrated his leadership and expertise as a Senior Associate to the Plaintiffs’ National Co-Lead Counsel in the complex MDL 2326, In Re: Boston Scientific Corp. Pelvic Repair System Products Liability Litigation, one of the biggest product liability cases in history.

Landmark Cases and Expanding Legal Horizons:
Sean McCrary’s distinguished legal career has been marked by his pivotal roles in numerous high-profile cases, including Risperdal and Invega Products Liability litigation (JCCP 4775), Cook IVC Filter Injury Litigation (MDL 2570), Ethicon Power Morcellator Litigation (MDL 2652), NFL Players Concussion Litigation (MDL 2323), Actos Products Liability Litigation (MDL 2299), Transvaginal Mesh Products Liability Litigation (MDLs 2325, 2326, 2327, and 2187), Yaz and Yasmin Liability Litigation (MDL 2100), Hydroxycut Products Liability litigation (MDL 208) metal on metal hips, faulty knee implants, faulty defibrillator cases, 3M earplug cases, roundup non-hodgkin’s lymphoma cases, and many other cases involving products that harmed many people in the United States.

Around 2016, Mr. McCrary expanded his focus to include single-event personal injury cases, particularly those arising from car accidents. Mr. McCrary quickly excelled in this area because of his vast understanding of human anatomy, history of complex litigation, empathy for his clients, and his unwavering work ethic.  His dedication and expertise quickly propelled him to the forefront of the largest personal injury law firm in Colorado while concurrently managing the firm’s pharmaceutical and medical device department by himself.
